Did you know that the Union Christian Church located at President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site is available for weddings?
The Calvin Coolidge Memorial Foundation lovingly maintains the church for visitors to the historic site and for weddings, funerals, and meetings. The church is closed to the public during these private occasions.
The Union Christian Church was built in 1840 and dedicated as a Congregational Church in 1842. The building is in the Greek Revival style and the original iron thresholds were cast at Tyson Furnace in Plymouth. In 1900, the interior was redesigned in a Carpenter Gothic style by a local artisan, Willie Pierce. Hard pine for the woodwork was sawn at the local mill. The interior now offers perfect acoustics for the Estey pump organ. Other instruments and voices are often featured at the church with its outstanding acoustics.
CCMF owns the church and surrounding property. The Vermont Division for Historic Preservation owns the gardens and grounds. Permission to use additional space should be made through the Vermont Division at 672-3773.
Arrangements for weddings are made through the CCMF office. There is a fee for use of the church. It enables the staff to clean and prepare the building and make arrangements for a private ceremony at the church. The date should not conflict with major events at the historic site and the wedding should be held during the season. Please Contact the Foundation for details.
